We’re delighted to announce that Zak has accepted the club’s offer to become our Head of Foundation (U8s–U12s) and Brogan has accepted the role of Head of Development!

These appointments are an exciting step forward for AFC Leyton as we continue to strengthen our club structure, support our coaches and create a clear pathway for our players to develop and progress.

ZAK | HEAD OF FOUNDATION (U8s–U12s)

Many of you will know that Zak joined AFC Leyton back in 2021, arriving as a fresh-faced 17-year-old, ready to take on coaching our U9s. Since then, he’s gone on to coach multiple teams, sometimes juggling three teams at once! I’m still not quite sure how he managed it all, but one thing is certain — he never let the challenge faze him and has always shown incredible commitment to the club and our players.

Zak currently leads our U15s JPL team, and we’re excited to see him take this next step in his journey with AFC Leyton. Please be assured that this new role will not affect the U15s team, and Zak will continue in his current coaching role.

As of this week, Zak will oversee our U9s–U12s age groups, with responsibilities including:

⚽️ Overseeing and supporting training sessions

📚 Delivering CPD and development opportunities for coaches

🌱 Supporting player development and progression

🤝 Supporting coaches with parent discussions and any team-related issues that may arise

BROGAN | HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT

Many of you will know that Brogan has been our First Team Captain since 2022 and began her coaching journey with our current U14s back in 2023. Alongside her playing and coaching commitments, Brogan has helped set up our Minis and played a huge part in developing our development sides into what they are today. Her commitment to the club, both on and off the pitch, has been invaluable, and we’re delighted to see her take on this new leadership role.

As of this week, Brogan will oversee our development sides, with responsibilities including:

⚽️ Overseeing and supporting training sessions

📚 Delivering CPD and development opportunities for coaches

🌱 Supporting player development and progression

🤝 WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE FUTURE

Zak and Brogan will work closely with each other, alongside Si, Tom, Nic and me, to strengthen the structure and pathway from our Foundation and development age groups through to our league teams. Our aim is to create a consistent environment across the club, ensuring our teams work towards the same club philosophy, our coaches receive the support they need, and our players have the best possible opportunities to learn, grow and progress. Maintaining high standards and ensuring our safeguarding procedures remain at the heart of everything we do will continue to be a priority.

These appointments mark an important step in the continued growth of AFC Leyton. By investing in our coaches, developing our structure and creating stronger pathways, we can continue to build a club where our players are supported at every stage of their football journey. Congratulations to both Zak and Brogan!

Two thoroughly deserved appointments, and a huge thank you to you both for everything you’ve already done for AFC Leyton. We’re excited to see what you achieve in your new roles as we continue to build for the future!
