Premier League "No Room for Racism" makes donation to AFC Leyton
AFC Leyton is one of England’s largest dedicated female only football clubs based in London.
Across the capital, women and girls continue to face inequality. The club aims to break down social and economic barriers by challenging and empowering women and girls through team sport. As part of this AFC leyton also creates much needed social interactions and an environment where females work together to achieve common goals. AFC Leyton is delighted to announce that this work has been recognised by the Premier League, who have made a cash donation to the club.
Nick Perchard, Spokesperson at the Premier League informed “this donation is in recognition of the poistitive and considerable work delivered by AFC Leyton. We hope the funding will help the club to continue the valuable community work, which is especially important in the current economic climate”
The money donated means the club can continue to be a truly affordable football club operating to high standards within London, and will be used towards the Clubs free community sessions, reducing fees for low income families and bursary pots.
“AFC Leyton works to really push beyond the 90 minutes of the game, inspiring the next generation of female footballers regardless of their backgrounds. This donation is very much welcomed and we are honoured to have been nominated by the FA to receive it” Club Chair Harry Cuthbert
